Nugget's Game Pack 06 - Remix-Top-100

This 123-Game pack is made up of games which have nearly all been "remixed" in some way, ie altered or updated in some way, all encoded packed and trained using my Loader-8 loading system, which includes an animated loading screen build and cheat pokes.

You may wonder why there is 123 games instead of 100, and the reason is that I would include all the games in the "series" hence  Kick Off also includes Kick Off 2 and Kick Off World Cup Edition, and Mask includes Mask II and Mask III Venom Strikes Back.....

These games are all "fixed" to run from all supported platforms. Originally many older games had to "select 48K mode" then use "OUT 32765,48" or "POKE 23388,16" yet all of these will work just fine hitting the Tape Loader option. Some games have been merged, for example the game Aknadach (English-Czech) (2011)(Softhouse) allows selection upon loading of English or Czech versions. Samantha Fox Strip Poker (48K-128K)(1986)(Martech) has both 48K and 128K versions in the same load. If the machine is detected as having 128K memory either version may be selected and the same grainy stills become even more enjoyable with superb (!) 3-channel music. So always use 128K versions where available.

There are 36 All-In-One's in this pack, which is where an entire game is compiled into a single 128K load. Whereas the original game would prompt the user to load levels from tape when required, these have been modified to instead "stream" the data in from the 128K memory, thus improving the game experience at the expense of breaking compatibility with 48K machines.

In addition there is 50 AY Remix's in this pack, where an AY music soundtrack has been added to a game which originally only used the beeper, providing additional "wow" factor and making the game feel more updated. Obviously this requires an AY chip which 99.9% of the 128K Spectrums have as standard, and usually 128K of RAM, but a few of these remixes, for example Zenji, Zig Zag and Zolyx will work on a 48K with AY Chip due to these games having unused RAM where the music can reside. But loading most of these games on a 48K machine, in particular those tagged (48K-128K), will result in the additional music being ignored.

This pack contains ALL the .tap files, which are fairly universal in that they work on pretty much anything due to their simple ROM-load nature, yet are less exciting to use within any system  that supports the .tzx format, which looks far superior due to the alcatraz-style streamed screen reveal, nice loader countdown and higher turbo loading speed. This pack includes a small selection of these tzx files for demonstration purposes. (check out those pretty loaders)!

This pack also includes a small selection of +3/+3e Installers. Loading these tapes allows installation of the game to a +3 disk or a +3e partition, from where the game will run. The games have been altered to install/run from any drive letter ("A","B",etc. through "P") and any loading or saving of game files within the game will be placed onto the same disk as the game is installed to, using a custom handler which catalogues the disk and speed-loads available files. This in-game +3 load/save system is tagged (+3 Disk Mod).
